Goal feast unlikely in Wembley semi

With a place in the FA Cup final up for grabs at Wembley on Sunday Manchester United and Everton are unlikely to serve up the goal feast that broadcasters ITV and the neutrals will be hoping for.

Statistically, recent FA Cup semi-finals have been low-scoring affairs with eight of the last 14 ending 1-0 and with that in mind a correct score punt on that scoreline seems worthwhile.

United, the favourites to progress, are football odds of 7.0 to win 1-0, while Everton are 15.5 to topple the Premier League and Champions League holders.

And with two of the last four meetings between the two teams also ending 1-0 to United and looking at the way the Red Devils shut-out Porto in midweek they look the more likely to team to edge it.

Rio Ferdinand returned to partner Nemanja Vidic at the heart of the defence in Portugal and they should be able to shackle an Everton side who are likley to play with five across the midfield.

Everton's cornerstone will once again be the defensive partnership of Phil Jagielka and Joleon Lescott, who have been in fine form this season. The Blues have racked up five cleansheets in their last eight Premier League games and will fancy another shut-out at Wembley.

The under 2.5 goals market does not represent great value at odds of 1.81 and it might be worth taking the plunge on the under 1.5 market at 3.2 with a goalless draw and extra-time certainly not out of the question.
