England to double up against Slovakia

Postby idcatalin » Fri Mar 27, 2009 11:19 am

Fabio Capello’s England are back in action on Saturday with Slovakia the friendly opposition at Wembley.

The Slovakians have been hand-picked for England ahead of the World Cup qualifying date with the Ukraine in the capital on Wednesday night and Vladimir Weiss’ men should not pose too many problems for England’s multi-talented squad.

It’s a difficult task picking out value bets whenever England feature with patriotic punters smashing into anything remotely enticing leaving ‘no value’ signs up everywhere.

That is pretty much the case one more with Three Lions’ punters hammering the home side at odds as short as 1.31, while England to keep a clean sheet is also short at 1.4.

With Capello likely to swap and change his line-up it also seems unwise to get stuck into a player to score at anytime, but England to win both halves looks appealing with England's odds (http://betting.betfair.com/football/int ... 60309.html) at 2.72.

Capello has now been in charge of England for seven friendlies and in two of those games England have won both 45 minutes’.
It might not sound too impressive a statistic, but when you consider some of the opposition England look a decent bet to double up against the Slovaks.

The Three Lions have faced France, Spain, Germany and the Czech Republic in non-competitive encounters and Slovakia will not provide the same level of opposition over the weekend.

Despite having made a good start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, Slovakia are nowhere near the level the Spaniards showed in last month's 2-0 defeat in Seville - they are ranked 53rd by FIFA at present.

And they have a pretty miserable record in friendlies of late.

In the same period that Capello has been in charge of England, Slovakia have played eight such matches, winning one, losing six and conceding 14 goals in the process.

It looks like a comfortable win for England (http://betting.betfair.com/football/int ... 60309.html), but back them to win both halves at 2.72.
